Greeting MIUI Lovers,
Flash MIUI 9 Developer Rom (Fastboot) with MI Flash without wiping Apps and Internal Storage on Locked BL. This guide is for Advanced users who can use Test Point.
This guide can be used if:
- Your Phone is in bootloop and You want to save Internal Storage.
- Your Phone is dead and does not access Fastboot or Recovery Mode.
You can flash fastboot ROM by Fastboot mode or Emergency Download Mode(EDL)
Before starting any Fastboot flash it is advisable to Backup your data. Follow simple steps to backup data.

Important: - Before flashing it is advised to take the backup of data and make sure that your phone battery is charged enough.
Flashing MIUI 9 Using Fastboot Mode |
Phone Bootloader needs to be unlocked for fastboot Mode flashing.
Follow the Simple guide http://en.miui.com/a-234.html Select Save User data Radio button in MI Flash.Note: Save User data with work for Upgrading ROMs without any issue. If you will downgrade using Save User data, You will face Force Close on Apps.
Flashing MIUI 9 Using Emergency Download Mode(EDL) |
Important: Tested on Redmi Note 4 SD, Flashed Global Developer ROM 7.8.3 from Global Stable 8.2.10.0 without losing anything. It will work with other devices also.
EDL mode is not accessible on Latest MIUI Roms, so you need to enter EDL using Test Point. Some devices support Deep flash cable to Enter EDL.

Before flashing ROM you need to edit a file in ROM Folder:
Download and Extract the fastboot ROM you want to flash. Inside Images folder you will find a file name "rawprogram0.xml"
Backup the file before editing it.
Edit the file using Notepad++ for the best experience. Find the lines containing filename="userdata.img" as shown below.
Delete the line and save the file.
